Buying a Motorcycle on eBay Can Be Risky

>> Monday, February 07, 2005

If you're planning to buy a motorcycle through eBay, you might want to know that Al Whidden tried to do the same, and is still waiting for his motorcycle. Whidden paid $4,500 to a guy in Milan, Italy via money order, for a Honda Goldwing, and never received the bike. Moreover, he even paid a company called SquareTrade, who provides buyer protection to eBay users. Now he's suing both eBay and SquareTrade.

Idiot! I bought a bike on EBay with no problems. I drove 300 miles, test drove it then paid for it and took it home. Anyone stupid enough to pay in full for a bike they haven't even sat on deserves what they get (or don't get).

Yep, the guy's a moron. A suspiciously low price for a motorcycle overseas that you have to have shipped from Italy? What could possibly go wrong! While we're at it, I'm an African Prince who needs someone to help me get $10 million out of the country...
