Athena from Vagabond ChoppersYou might have read or heard about Vagabond Choppers, a Florida based chopper builder, in various magazines, or on television. "Vagabond Chickie", as she's affectionately known in chopper circles, is one of the few lady chopper builders, and she's getting a lot of attention lately.

Athena starting riding motorcycles with her father at the age of 6 in Illinois. At the age of 7, her father, "Chicago" Phil moved the family to Florida. Her father and brothers had been riding choppers since the '60s, and she knew her future was in the motorcycle world. She just wasn't sure in what capacity.

She began riding at 15 and starting wrenching on them at the age of 16 under the watchful eye of racing Legend Guy Glover at his shop "Cycle Works". That's when she knew chopper building was her niche.

She's since passed the bug on to her two children, which have ridden thousands of miles on their mom's rigid chopper and can be seen with a a wrench in their hand from time to time.

Athena has now joined the ranks of other builders, such as Voodoo Choppers, in building a custom motorcycle for the 1 in 8 Breast Cancer Motorcycle Series, as her way of giving something back to society.

You can check out her gallery of chopper creations.
