I hate the stock mirrors on the Harley!

The stems on the mirrors are so damn short, they don't extend far enough past your arms and shoulders, that you can't see the road behind you. You have to move your head over to the side to see anything.

I know Harley sells mirrors with extended stems, and yes, I'm going to buy them. But man, what a con job! You'd think that Harley would put safety at the top of their priority, and give you mirrors that you can actually use.

I never realized how much I liked the mirrors on my Yamaha Road Star, until I started riding the Ultra.

I realize that you can't really compare the Road Star with the Ultra. One is for riding, while the other is for touring. One is for enjoying the road, while the other is for enjoying the long haul.

Still, what's the point of having mirrors if you can't see out of them?

  1. Harley makes mirrors with longer arms.

  2. have you ever bought a Harley that you didn't have to change almost everything on it? The mirrors, the seat, the pegs, the grips and on and on.....Its not that Harley-Davidson doesn't sell the good stuff, its just that they don't include it with the stock bike. They are laughing all the way to the bank!!

  3. Not sure if this will help make you feel better but BMW is strting to play the same game: prior to the 2005 models you got a great tool box with the bike, now you get the standard japanese one (and some are even better than th eBMW one) but you can still get the great one...if you pay for!
On the R1200RT if you want the rear mud guard extension (by the way this part is precisely explained in the manual) you have to pay for that little piece of plastic!
Bikes get more expensive and you get less!!!
With all those guys lauthing the world is going to be cool LOL
