I received a comment today on an old article of mine regarding Edward Winterhalder's book about the Bandidos MC, "Out in Bad Standings"...

Though it may be interesting, bike gangs in Canada are the most violent and the most deadly.

Though many Banditos have been murdered in Ontario lately, I believe that the violence is going to skyrocket. The American clubs are just boy scout groups compared to these ones.
I thought this made for some interesting discussion, and wanted to put it on its own post.

I don't think there's anything about Canadians that make them more deadly than Americans.

I think there are a couple of dynamics that are unique to Canada...

  • 1. Canada's laws and judicial system is not the same as America's laws and judicial system. You have to look at this first to understand why the 1%er turf war in Canada is different than that in the USA.

  • 2. I think 1%er clubs have been a bigger part of the American culture than in Canada. Canadians are not used to them in the way Americans are used to them. So when the Canadian news reports about gang violence, it's received with great shock.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

And please keep the discussion in general; not specific to any club.
