Pretty much what everyone expected from Harley Davidson in the Q3 period...

Based on what I'm seeing in the community, I don't think Q4 is going to look any better.
Labels: Harley Davidson
I think this is just the begining. Their stock is dropping like a rock in the ocean. Too much inventory and the cruiser fad is slowing way down. The new emmision controls are also going to hurt. It's time they get their prices in line and using the Revolution engine in many of their models.

I think they've saturated the market. Maybe if they slow down production and make them a little harder to come by like in the old days, the demand will start to rise again.
Hey, I hope your ok down there in those Cali fires!

anonymous said... It is good you stayed anonyous because you sure do not understand Harley Davidson or the guys that ride them.
Flatter sales are due to three things:
1. too many units produced, Harley needs to limit the number of bikes it churns out.
2. In 2007 Harley fitted their bikes with new re-designed 95 inch motors and six speed transmisions. This move drove a death nail in prior 07 sales. The used bike market got flooded with prior 07 bikes as people flocked to get the new motor.
3. As all things go, the folks who jumped on the band wagon and became a "biker" for a few years have moved on to other things. This is normal with any fad.
Now as for the idea of putting the Revolution engine in the Harley line? That would be like Harley shooting their-self in the head!!!
Most guys I know would never ride anyhing that looks to Japanese, Why do you think V-Rods have such a hard time making headway? Too Jap looking.
The (Rocker C) is the direction the company needs to head. Mark my words, The rocker will sell like wildfire! it is all Harley, It looks all American, It is well priced...And it doesnt have a Jap looking engine!

HD shot themselves in the foot when they forced all of their dealers to buiild multi-million dollar boutiques over the last few years. Now sales are slowing, stocks are plummeting and the dealerships will be the ones who lose big.
As for the Rocker - it's not a bike for bikers - it's just the newest gimmick bike for doctors and lawyers. It will seel at first, but it won't help the sort of financial problems the dealerships are about to experience.
