Imagine heading out to your favorite biker bar, only to find the speech cops there to make sure no one says any naughty words.
That's what a city councilman in St. Charles, MO wants to accomplish. He submitted a bill that would make it illegal for people to use "cuss words", as well table-dancing, drinking contests, and "profane music".
He says the bill is needed to keep rowdy crowds under control because the historic downtown area gets a little too lively on some nights.
Obviously the cops don't have the personnel to staff each bar every evening, but what this law will do is allow them to slap some extra charges on you, and make you never want to come back again.
"We're dealing with adults here once again and I don't think it's the city's job or the government's job to determine what we can and cannot play in our restaurant," said Marc Rousseau, owner of a bar in St. Charles.
Too bad the city doesn't host any big biker rallies, they could sure rack up some huge income with this law.
The city council plans a meeting to discuss the proposal for January 14.
