The US Department of Transporation now has its own blog called "Fastlane", headed up by the DOT's leader herself, Mary Peters.
Peters, pictured here, has made a name for herself in the motorcycle circles, because of her self-appointed campaign to get every state in the Union to make helmets mandatory.
You might want to bookmark this one, and post your thoughts and feelings everytime she talks about helmets. Or you just might want to introduce yourself right now, and let her know how you feel...

I have been riding for thirty plus years without a helmet. I feel that if this woman wants to wear a helmet than do so. What she is doing here is infringing on others rights to do what they want to do. I for one wish her man would restrain her, be a man, and show her where her place is. If these so called of big mouth women would shout them up this stupidly would stop. All she wants is a man to give her something to do with her mouth!!!

Helmet laws should be a freedom of choice. We have enough people in legislation now trying to dictate our rite to decide for us instead of letting us do what we feel is right for our selves and our own safety. WHERE does this gal get off doing this. Get a life! Its supposed to be our choice.

I do think it should be up to the rider.I do think that riders under eighteen should have to weare thim as they still have to much piss & vinegar to go with out. I live in Arkansas and ride in only states that do not have helments laws. I have never went down in my last fourty or so years of rideing. I think [as for me]going top less , makes you take it a little more easy and take less chances Dave
