Louisiana May Repeal Helmet Law

>> Tuesday, May 06, 2008

Television station KTBS 3 reports that a bill that will repeal the helmet law in Louisiana may have a chance.

It passed through sub-committee today, and will now make its way to a full House vote.

This is interesting being that the past several months has seen the Department of Transportation Secretary putting pressure on all states to enact helmet laws, and that the media across all channels has been putting spotlight on the increase in motorcycle fatalities.

We'll keep an eye on this one.

We have finally elected some leaders who agree their are too many laws on the books.. TV 10 and the Lafayette Advertisor should report news and quit trying to influence people... We are not that stupid that we need you to tell us right from wrong. Great repealing helmet law. Now remove about 100 other stupid laws. But keep laws like stiffer penalties for child predators, things that make sense.

There should be a balance that protect bikers but at the same time do not allow them to abuse of their rights .

I think it should be an obligation for al biker to wear a helmet that may protect their lives. If they are against the use of a helmet, then their driver licenses should be cancelled.
