by Steve

RideGear.comJay Green, who writes the "Road Captain USA" blog, writes about his frustrations dealing with RideGear.com, an online retailer of motorcycle gear...

http://roadcaptainusa.com/2008/06/28/my-own-jacket-quidick-fiasco-with-ridegearcom/

What started out as a purchase of a jacket, turned out to be 80 days of e-mails, phone calls, and headaches.

  • DO NOT BUY FROM RIDE GEAR.....Ride Gear is now operating as a scam. I can't belive the CA Attorney General is letting them still operate. They too me for $70.
You cant even get anyone to answer an email or phone.

  • Sounds like a total nightmare, but thanks for sharing this - good to know! I just got into motorcycles recently working for Progressive Motorcycle Insurance, and it’s really awesome how passionate people are about their bikes. If you’re going to be at Sturgis this year, we’re sponsoring Thunder Road! You can get a coupon for a free t-shirt custom designed by Sucker Punch Sallys by hitting http://motorcycle.progressive.com/motorcycle-rallies-events.aspx - print the coupon and bring it to our booth at Sturgis for your free shirt, and from there you’ll have a chance to win a new bike also designed for Progressive by Sucker Punch Sallys.

Hope I haven’t overstepped any bounds by letting you know about this directly, but figured it’s something a lot of you might be interested in. Email me at gia.progressive@gmail.com if you want further info!

  • It would be great to know if the item runs true to size or not...also free shipping makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE

  • DO NOT BUY FROM THEM...HAD TO REVERSE CHARGES ON MY CREDIT CARD....THEY TOTALLY SUCK

  • They used to be "ok" but I have seen their service go from bad to terrible to nonexistant. I buy from JC Whitney and BikeBandit.com. They have both been good, but BikeBandit.com is the best in my opinion.

  • I made a purchase of a quadivator for $1002.48 in Feb 2008. I received nothing and could not get my money back ( still have nothing). I did get to talk to the owner of Ride Gear and the district attorney of CA and have lots of promises but no money back. It's suprising that the District Attorny doesn't consider this fraud by Ride Gear. Does anyone have any contact number they could post so people that got taken by this company can blitz them with phone calls and emails?

  • Wow! If you used a credit card you should be able to "charge it back" or "dispute the charge"!

I think the internet is just like any other business. Only buy from companies that you can trust (friends recomend, BBB members, good customer reviews)...

I like BikeBandit.com. They are fair and ship fast.
