PAL-V Gyrocopter - Flying Motorcycle Concept
by Steve

A Dutch company, PAL-V, says it's only two years away from making available to consumers of what they describe as a "flying motorcycle".
It's actually more like a trike with built-in helicopter.
Dubbed, "Gyrocopter", it's hoped it will solve traffic jams by allowing owners to lift up into the air, and over the cars.

It might work if the Gyrocopter was so expensive that only a few could afford them. Otherwise, if everyone could afford one, there'd be traffic jams in the air, and the roads would be wide open.
Here's the irony of all this...
Governments could already allow many people to avoid traffic jams if they made motorcycle lane-splitting legal.
Yet, here's a company that wants the average Joe to fly Gyrocopters above traffic? Is this more safe than allowing motorcycles to lane-split?

Thursday, September 20, 2007
With the Tokyo Motor Show still a month away, Honda is making noise with the unveiling of its EVO6 concept motorcycle.
Based on the flat-6 1832cc engine from its Goldwing, the EVO6 is said to produce more horsepower than its touring ancestor. But what makes this motorcycle evil is that it has only half the weight of the Wing.

Aprilia Magnet - Concept Trike
by Steve
Monday, January 24, 2005
The folks at Aprilia, an Italian motorcycle builder, and the current owner of Moto Guzzi, is working on a concept vehicle dubbed, "Aprilia Magnet", which is perhaps best described as a trike where the two back wheels are in the front, and a single wheel in the back.
According to the vehicle's designer:
Project is based on riding sensation. I wanted to create a vehicle, which offers new kind of emotional experience while riding. I mixed motorbike's leaning character with formula one -type driving position and small sports car feeling with instruments and "being half-inside".
Main power source is small combustion engine (550cc) and drive to the wheels is done with electric engines in each wheel (lots of magnets, where the name comes from). There is also additional battery, which gives extra power for acceleration. Rider can also switch off combustion engine and slide slowly and silently in the landscape.
Magnet is capable to take pillion too -like a supersport motorcycles.
