Saw this chartreuse, glow in the dark, colored hoodie at Skip Fordyce Harley-Davidson in Riverside, CA this evening.

Harley-Davidson Hoodie - Glow in the Dark

The highly bright color is probably a good idea for night riding.

Harley-Davidson's New Summer Catalog

by Steve
Friday, April 27, 2007

This week I received Harley-Davidson's new 2007 Summer catalog, filled with hard-core gear that my wife and I need to buy.

Gear such as this "Women's Harmony Leather Jacket", pictured here...

Harley Davidson rhinestone jacket
http://www.harley-davidson.com/....&bmLocale=en_US

Described as a "Feminine styled lightweight leather jacket", it comes with a snap-down collar so that chicks don't have to worry about getting slapped on the face while riding their Sporties.

The motor company says that this jacket features an "action back". An action back? I didn't know the backs of jackets could provide action. Perhaps I've been depriving myself with another aspect of riding fun. Will have to investigate.

The studs and faux gems along waist combined with the studded applique on back will make sure those BMW guys won't mistake your ride for some kind of sorry little "Moto Goosey" thing.

Perfect for going to hard-core biker bars like the Rock Store or even Cook's Corner, it's sure to sell out fast at just a cost of $350.00.

If Mister Rogers Rode a Harley

by Steve
Monday, November 20, 2006

Harley Davidson clothesSeeing this outfit at Quaid Harley Davidson in Temecula made me think of Mister Rogers.

It would have been cool if Mister McFeely (the speedy delivery guy) rode an old 1936 Harley Davidson EL, instead of that geeky looking bicycle.

Remember that toy trolley that would run from his house to the "Neighborhood of Make Believe"? It would instead have gone to the "Neighborhood of Biker Rallies", and all the characters wore black leather vests, tattoos, and $200 Panoptx shades.

Heck, what kind of tattoo would Fred Rogers have gotten?

Actually, I think it would have been cool if Mister Rogers could have ridden with us. I grew up watching his shows (can you tell?). I can see that guy riding a Road King with 14" apes, and a sticker on his helmet that said, "Mean People Suck".

If Harley made a limited edition "Mister Rogers Paint Set" for a Road King, I wonder what it would look like?

Ok, anyone want to add to this discussion?

Harley Davidson Beef Jerky

by Steve
Wednesday, October 11, 2006

ConAgra Foods announced yesterday that it signed a multi-year licensing agreement with Harley-Davidson to produce a new brand of beef jerky, dubbed "Harley-Davidson Beef Jerky".

"Tough jerky for tough bikers", I imagine.

Tom Parsons, Harley-Davidson's acting general manager of general merchandise, said that...

Harley riders live for the time they spend on their motorcycles, and beef jerky is a convenient food for the open road. It's a great way for riders to grab a snack and keep on rolling, and we look forward to working with ConAgra Foods to bring this road food to market.
I wonder why Harley-Davidson didn't opt to use "hog" meat instead?

Harley-Davidson Beef Jerky will be available in three flavors, Original, Teriyaki and Pepper, and sold in 3.25-ounce packages. Shipping is expected to begin in January 2007 to convenience stores and authorized Harley-Davidson dealerships.

Harley Logo Fanaticism

by Steve
Tuesday, April 11, 2006

Harley Davidson ClothingDoes Harley Davidson have a better marketing campaign than licensing its logo to manufacturers of clothing and collectibles?

When people buy a Harley, they start buying up the shirts, hats, jackets, and everything else with the famous HD logo. Not only are these people advertising for Harley, but they're paying Harley for the right to do so. Man, what a great position for Harley to be in!

A funny thing is that before I even owned a Harley, people were buying me Harley t-shirts for Christmas. I suppose I had to buy a Harley just so I didn't have to wear them on my Yamaha.

My wife even bought some Harley t-shirts before I bought the Ultra Classic. And now that we have one, she has a bunch more shirts to wear. I'm kinda running my own little revolt, refusing to give into the HD logo madness, though I admit having worn a couple of the Harley t-shirts people bought me.

I've seen some real beauties, however. I once saw a woman with a group of HOG riders hop off the back of a bike, wearing a leather jacket with "Harley Davidson" in shiny rhinestones on the back, and trimmed with leopard-print fuzzy around the collar. She wore her HD logo helmet, and wrapper her head with a HD logo bandana. She even wore high heels.

Anyways, I decided to capitalize on this madness by launching a new section on this website called "Harley Davidson Gear". It's a smaller blog within this blog, that features stuff with the HD logo on it. Each item is actually part of an affiliate marketing program, where I earn a commission on the sales. If you click on product link, and buy it, I get a cut.

I figure if Harley is going to make a killing on all this junk, then I'm going to get some of it too.

Too Much Harley Stuff for Christmas

by Steve
Thursday, December 29, 2005

Not sure why, but I ended up with something like three Harley t-shirts for Christmas. I don't even ride a Harley!

My wife bought me one of them even. The others came from nieces and nephews. In fact, my wife bought a Harley t-shirt for herself too. I'm not sure what she was thinking.

I do own some other Harley-branded stuff, such as a denim vest. I bought the vest because I really liked the feel, the look, and the quality. The vest does NOT have the big Harley logo on back, so it doesn't look funny when I'm riding on my Road Star.

However, the t-shirts have large, very easily recognizable Harley logos on back. I'll probably give them away as raffle items at the next bike-night, or something.

by Steve
Friday, September 23, 2005

Westpoint HomeWestPoint Home, Inc. announced today a new multi-year Licensing Agreement with Harley-Davidson Motor Company, to produce and market Juvenile Bedding and Bath accessories as part of the Youth Home Furnishings Collection for markets throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Some of you might know Westpoint Home as the maker of Martex, Utica, and Vellux brands of towels, linens, and blankets.

The new product line will be introduced in the October 2005 Fall Market Week in New York City, with an anticipated second-quarter 2006 shipping date to WestPoint Home's Department and Specialty Store customers as well as the Harley-Davidson dealerships nationwide.

"Our customers enjoy sharing their enthusiasm for Harley-Davidson with their families, especially children and grandchildren," said Ruth Crowley, Harley-Davidson vice president of general merchandise. "These products give our young enthusiasts an opportunity to customize their rooms expressing their personal spirit of freedom and individuality."

Of course, there's no better way for a child to express his or her personal spirit of freedom while drying themself off with a Harley Davidson bath towel.
