Is NexL Helmets Out of Business?
by Steve
Wednesday, November 14, 2007
A discussion on HDForums suggests that the maker of NexL Helmets may have gone out of business...
Update, there is an attorney in California that is supposedly handleing the liquidation of NEXL Sports. His name is David Parker and he had called me back after I left him a message regarding the fact that my money was taken and I received no helmet. His number is 831-915-0081. Good luck all, it looks like there is a chance that you "MAY" get your money back, but again, who knows.
Several other respondents claim to have placed orders for their "world's smallest DOT" half-helmet, many months ago, and have never received their shipment.
I'm glad I found the thread because I had considered buying one online. I guess I'll just try to find one at a store instead.
Read the full thread here, and "buyer beware"...

Definitely a Chick Helmet
by Steve
Monday, October 23, 2006
Here's a "trendy" helmet you won't find in your local Cycle Gear.
It's made by Laura Smith, and looks to be something out of Italy. Might be something a RUB chick would wear on a Harley Softail Deluxe.

I don't know what the price is, or where to order one. But here's the URL:

The Business of Making Helmets
by Steve
Tuesday, May 30, 2006
The Birmingham Business Journal has an article featuring the success story of a small motorcycle helmet manufacturer, Helmets Inc., makers of the Caliber and Rodia brands. Yeah, they even make this dog helmet.
It's a good read if you like business stuff. It kinda makes you want to start your own helmet company.
Interestingly, the article says that brightly colored mohawk attachments are really popular.
Todd Sobel, who owns Helmets Inc., came up with a design patterned after the Captain America helmet on the movie "Easy Rider", but it flopped...
But not all of his ideas pan out. He thought a recent inspiration
to design a "Captain America-style" helmet from the film "Easy Rider" was a shoo-in. Instead, it tanked.
Funny, because I know a guy who has one just like it, and his girlfiend wears it from time to time.

Rearview Helmet
by Steve
Saturday, November 19, 2005
Reevu is the name of a company that makes a helmet with built-in rear view technology.
The helmet uses a series of mirrors running from the front to the back, to bend the light all the way around your head. The result is a front and back view, very similar to the set up in an automobile.
The mirrors are not made from traditional glass however. It's made of a reflective polycarbonate material that's unbreakable and lighter.
Here's what it looks like wearing the helmet..
