Yamaha's New Star Raider

by Steve
Tuesday, September 11, 2007

The newest cruiser from Yamaha's Star Motorcycle division is probably a clear attempt to get an entry into the factory custom market, the "Raider".

Announced today from Yamaha, it comes just a couple of months after Harley-Davidson announced its ticket into the factory custom bandwagon, the Rocker.

Yamaha Star Raider
It's powered by a 1854cc (113ci), air cooled, fuel injected, belt-driven, v-twin. Sounds very similar to the Roadliner engine. It comes with a seat height of 27.3 inches, and a wheelbase of 70.9 inches. It has a dry weight of 692 pounds, and will hold 4.1 gallons of fuel.

The Raider comes in two varieties, the standard version, and the "S" version, which carries some additional styling accents.

MSRP Pricing...

$13,780 Raider S (Tommy Blue)
$13,980 Raider S (Candy Red w/Flames)
$13,180 Raider (Raven)
$13,380 Raider (Candy Red)

The Raider should be showing up in Yamaha showrooms this month.

Ok, so now we have the name, "Star Raider". Sounds like something a Trekkie would ride when he's feeling a need for speed.
