The California Highway Patrol will purchase 121 brand new Harley-Davidson Electra Glides from Oakland Harley-Davidson, news station KTVU reports.
The move comes after some 20% of their fleet of BMW motorcycles have over 100,000 miles on them, requiring a lot of expensive maintenance costs.
Under the terms, the dealership will provide a 3 year/60,000 mile warrantee, which apparently is the reason why the Motor Company won the contract, despite charging $4,500.00 more per bike.
According to the report, officers are already lining up to dump their Boxer engines for a shiny new Twin Cam.
